MFT Camp Create – Wonderful Watercolor – Sunny Smiles Card

Well, I managed to get one post done. Let’s hope the rest roll smoothly.

Day three at the MFT Camp Create summer camp crafting tent focused on Wonderful Watercolor. And Virginia’s View still has the All About Colors Challenge going on.

This was my first time trying to do a fine watercolor with my Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens… I still need MUCH more practice with watercolors, but here’s the finished product:

I love Frangipanis! They’re so exotic and make me think of travelling to Hawaii and the Orient. Here in Florida, they’re mostly yellow and white. In South America we had more pink/orange/yellow, like these. I also fell in love with the bright and colorful toucans in South America. The ones I came across were quite gregarious and would follow you if you walked away. This stamp set just makes me smile with fond memories! : )

I am very thankful that I have a Tombow Mono Sand Eraser… a couple of times I had disasters where my colors bled terribly out into the background. After panicking, I blotted the area and, when dry, used the eraser — you can hardly tell where the spots are – and, no, it’s not where the sentiment is… that actually looks fine in real life… don’t know why it looks funky in the pic — crazy!

Badge #3 earned!

Just Sittin’ Here Thinkin’ of You! Watercolor Card

Today I have a quick CAS (that’s Clean And Simple for those who don’t know) watercolor card to share with you:

Papertrey Ink is releasing their new product and has a Create Along With Us release week challenge to create your own version of something their designers have presented. I chose base my card on Nichole Heady’s card, which you can find HERE and is pictured below:

She water colored around the stamped image and then used a white gel pen to add in the stars, so I tried doing the same. I didn’t have any PTI tree stamps, so I used a leaf that does a pretty good job of imitating a tree. : )

Materials used:

  • Papertrey Ink stamp sets: Love You to Pieces Fox; Spiral Bouquet (leaf/tree), On My Couch Additions (sentiment)
  • Strathmore Cold Press Watercolor Paper
  • Papertrey Ink Canyon Clay dye ink
  • Stampin’ Up Garden Green dye ink
  • Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors #64
  • Copic Markers: B21 & C1
  • Craft Smith card
  • Tombow Xtreme permanent adhexive
    • I also used Tombow’s Mono Sand Eraser to get rid of a tiny drop of watercolor that fell on the white background. What a terrific tool!

I’m playing along with the following challenges. Click on the links if you’d like to learn more:
