So Many of My Smiles Begin With You – Cat Lovers Hop Day 2

Welcome back for day two of the Cat Lovers Hop! There are lots of adorable and lovely projects already linked up – well worth PURRusing!! Perhaps you’ll be inspired to work up a project and join the fun!

It’s amazing how quickly cats can cause disaster, isn’t it?! But sometimes they’re just laugh-worthy, too…

This cute Krafty Kat-astrophe stamp reminds me a little of that silly old Ray Stephens song ‘Stuck on You’ – which also has a cat in it! (If you haven’t heard it and have ever had a super glue catastrophe, you’ll get a giggle out of it. Since I don’t know how to put sound on a post yet, here’s a link where you can listen to it:

I used this month’s Kraftin’ Kimmie challenge sketch:

This was my first try at doing a spotted inky background. It’s funny how hard it is to do random on purpose! lol!

I love how Glossy Accents adds realism to the eyes, Scotch tape, and spilt coffee!

Some more kitty fun from around the house. Becca’s card on the hop yesterday reminded me of this mug that a friend gave me a while back. >^.^<

Starbucks Fall Coffee Cup Album

Hooray! The Fall Coffee Cups have FINALLY arrived at my local Starbucks.

Now there are even more reasons to get Pumpkin spiced lattes!! I’ve been seeing them colored and used for cards all over the crafting blogsphere lately. So decided to color one up with Copic markers and up-cycle it into an adorable mini album following Wilna Furstenburg’s iheartstudio instructions using her fab free download for the inside. You can find her step-by-step instructional video and the download HERE.

Here’s the outside cover. I chose to cover the edges with Washi tape to five it a more finished look.

For the inside pages, you’ll notice you can’t see the album pictures on purpose. I covered them with wax paper and photoshopped them where necessary as they’re of friends who I don’t have permission to show plus it’s going to be a surprise gift for them.

My cover is a little bigger than Wilna’s… I used a Grande instead of a Tall cup.

Here you can see where the signatures were bound with Washi tape and then sewn in with twine. It just takes a small awl to punch through.

I’ve never done a digital album before. I like how Wilna’s pages have such soft colors and a nice layered multi-media look to them!

You  can just barely see the sparkle of the Wink of Stella that I ran along the vein lines of the fabric leaves on the front cover. This picture shows closer to the true color vs the blue in the top pictures. Cameras! Still can’t do better than the human eye sometimes!!

Materials used:

  • Starbucks fall hot coffee cup – Grande… washed! : )
  • Copic markers: BG15, 18; E11, 33, 37, 74; R24, 29, 39, 89; Y17; YR02, 04, 07, 21, and 24
  • I Heart Studio Coffee Cup : Fall 2015 free download (HERE)
  • Tagboard from a cereal box for the cover
  • K & Company Contemporary paper (end sheets)
  • Aileene’s Original Tacky Glue
  • Plaid Royal Coat Paper Adhesive
  • Tombow Mono Adhesive Power Bond & Adhesive Dots
  • Spellbinders Tear Drop Circles
  • Nicole Maple Leaves pack
  • Zig Wink of Stella, clear
  • Papertrey Ink button: Terracotta Tile
  • Misc. cardstock, twine & jute string and Washi tape

Hope and challenges to play along with:

Wilna Furstenburg is having a Coffee Cup Challenge that you can enter your Coffee Cup Album on Instagram. Find the details here:

Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday challenge is a color board with Bown, Orange, Grey and purple… The first three on the outside of the album with purple on the inside…

Sending Hugs Card With Vintage Flowers

Hello, again, crafty friends!

Today I got to play with a new layered flower stamp set from Altenew that came yesterday – just in time for today’s class on layering! I’m sure glad to have a MISTI stamping tool to use with these! Once you take the time to line them up, you can crank out several cards and save time!

I took Altenew’s inspiration photo for the September challenge: From Places Abroad – Windsor Castle, and used the royal reds and golds.

I also used Winnie & Walter’s World Cardmaking Day Sketch by Gayatri:

Putting them together, I came up with this Royal card:

I didn’t have any gold paper handy, so I just ran Versamark ink over the word ‘hugs’ after it was cut out in the metallic red cardstock and heat embossed it. I love those elegant layers of golds and reds – take a closer look:

The Princess Bird Anniversary Card

Yes, today is the day I reveal the card I’ve been working on and sharing on Instagram this past week.

It’s an anniversary card for a couple who are always quoting the Princess Bride. Fans of the movie will recognize many of the references, but there’s one they might not. Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up (wink wink): He’s always calls her ‘Barbie’, hence Barbie-cup instead of Buttercup. I think they’ll get a kick out of it!

With no further ado… Presenting: The Princess BIRD Anniversary card….

But wait! There’s more!

And a better view of the two sides on the inside:

20151008_094138aW   20151008_094143aW

You should be able to click on any picture to see it larger if you want to. I love how the Darice Wood Grain Background embossing folder makes that mulberry paper look woody!

A little bit of the coloring details:

To keep the watercolors from bleeding through at the edges, I put waxed paper in between. A nice video on doing the trees and hills can be found on Sandy Allnock’s YouTube channel (HERE).

I ended up jazzing up their wings a bit with a gold gel pen… I always love a little bling! : )

Jenn Shurkus recently did a great Periscope video on coloring leaves (you can find more details HERE)… unfortunately these were SO small, it was tough to do, but they turned out ok.

After popping up this guys eyes, I added Wiggly Eyes… Makes his expression just like the average kid’s eyes when there’s kissing. Lol!

If I ever figure out how to get the little video of how the card opens over here from Instagram, I’ll add it in later.

Materials used:

  • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamps
  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Framelits Bird Crazy dies
  • Sizzix Susan’s Garden Branches & Stem dies and Lilac Flower dies (leaves)
  • Darice Wood Grain Background embossing folder

I Just Want to Drink Coffee & Create!

Well, we’ve come to the bottom of the cup for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. It’s been good to the last drop! ’twas an amazing week of crafty creativity, surpassing last hop’s entries already with over 520 entries!

It’s also day two of The Daily Marker’s 30 Day Challenge #3 – the challenge to color something every day for a month.

Here is my final card:

Hop sponsor Just Dandy Studio provided the original printable digi, which you can find here: Notice that she got them in the right order, for most of us need the coffee before we CAN create! Hahaha!

The printable digi actually looks like this:

But I wanted the colors to be more fall-ish, so I used Corel Paint Shop Pro to change the colors and then printed it on Neenah Astoparche cardstock: Natural.

Then I spritzed it with Tsukineko walnut ink and took a cup and sat it in the ink to ‘stamp’ the coffee stains. I colored the coffee with a Copic marker (E37), covered it with glossy accents for the shine, and added some shading (Copics C1&C3).

I finished by using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L’s E-Z runner to adhere it to a DCWV card.

In addition to the above two hops/challenges, I am also entering this in Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes

And that finishes the hop for me, unless I get real ambitious this afternoon and have a second cup of coffee. lol! Unfortunately, I have to get back to all the things I’ve let slide while having fun creating this past week! I hope you’ve enjoyed the cards I made for this hop. Thanks again for all your kind comments! Please stop by from time to time to see what’s perkin’ – or, better still, subscribe so as not to miss anything! : )

Today’s card is a simple and fun fall card using the Latte Love free digi from hop sponsor Verve Stamps. (You can find it HERE.) I also used the Vive la Verve Week two September sketch to create this card (You can find it HERE.):

And the Verve Stamps September Autumn Lovelies color palette (Which you can find HERE.):

I still had part of that Dunkin’ Donuts sleeve, so addid it in the mix along with a fabric leaf with Wink of Stella brushed on the leaves for some frosty morning shine, since I hear it’s already cold up North. It’s still broiling hot down here in South Florida. Would everyone please step outside, face South, take a deep breath and blow some of that cooler air down here, please!!

Materials used:

  • Verve Stamps Latte Love digi set, currently free, which you can find here:
  • Spellbinders die: Marvelous Squares
  • Copic markers: R29, R89, YG63, YR04, YR24, W3
