Papertrey Ink Color Challenge – Hello Tulips Card

Good evening and welcome!

Papertrey Ink’s 11th Anniversary Party continues and this time they have a Color Challenge. I chose this color scheme:

Since I just picked up some tulips today at the grocery store for a buck, I had tulips on my mind. This is the card I made:

Love those tulips! I also cut down the quatrefoil background to make that interestingly patterned fence. The background is stencil blended ink, I just taped off the borders.

To jazz up the sentiment and the butterfly, they each got a coat of Wink of Stella.

Materials used:

  • Papertrey Ink Tulip Time stamps and dies; Quatrefoil Cover Plate, Swoosh die
  • Papertrey Ink dye inks: Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz & Aqua Mist
  • Ken Oliver Crafts Color Burst Ink: Chartreuse
  • Tsukineko Memento Dye Ink: Pear Tart
  • Kuretake Zig Wink of Stella – clear
  • Papertrey Ink Hibiscus Burst cardstock
  • Core’dinations white cardstock
  • Scrapbook adhesives by 3L foam adhesive squares & tape runner
  • SMS ‘Stay Put’ glue

If you want to join the fun and see what prizes are available at the Color Challenge, click HERE for more info.

I’m glad you could stop by today. Please feel free to leave a comment – I’m always encouraged when I read them!

Papertrey Ink 10th Anniversary Celebrating… 2016 – Trellis Tulip Hello Card

Well, we’ve made it to the end of this series! Thanks for hanging in there with me! Today is Papertrey Ink’s final anniversary review… Celebrating the Past, Present and Future: 2016.

20170217_pti2016

It’s been a fun trip down memory lane with them. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow!!

Well, they released Tulip Time in 2016, so I get to come up with my own card for a change. Hope you like it:

Ahhh…. you can just feel the warmth of spring! That trellis is made from the Quatrefoil die… if you cut it in half, you can then mix and match the pieces to form all kinds of nifty patterns.

I glue the edges together first, then snip off the ends and tuck them under the edge if needed. Again, I like using a flower shaping tool on these for dimension.

Papertrey Ink 10th Anniversary Celebrating… 2015 – Tulip Thank You Card

Hello, again! I hope you like this next card as much as I do. It’s for Papertrey Ink’s 10th Anniversary – Celebrating the Past, Present and Future: 2015.

20170217_pti2015

I liked the edging and layout of these cards by Michelle Leon:

So, I used that as a springboard for my card:

20170219_215538_wm

Hahaha! I just noticed that the GOLD, pink & white stripes are kind of doing the same thing as that famous viral dress photo of 2015! Is it gold? black? green? lol!

20170219_215600_wm

I love those layered tulips! This time I gave them some dimension and texture using flower shaping tool on the back side. Hope I get to see some tulips this spring!

PTI Make It Monday #256 – Spritzed Stamps – Thinking of You Tulip Card

One last post for today.. While I was playing with my Papertrey Ink stamps, I decided to give this past weeks Make It Monday challenge a try… Spritzed Stamps.

20160724_230611

Yes, it gave a little extra texture, but it wasn’t as smashing as the examples in the tutorial. Perhaps I tried the wrong kind of stamp.

I also tried using my Nuvo Crystal Drops in alternating colors and drawing a line through them with a straight pin… pretty nifty! I need to practice this to get it down perfect.

Supplies:

  • Papertrey Ink Tulip Time & Floral Sketches stamp sets
  • Papertrey Ink dye inks: Hibiscus Burst, Lovely Lady, Ocean Tides, Raspberry Fizz
  • Memento dye ink – Pear Tart
  • Canson cold press watercolor paper
  • Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Drops – Gloss: Bublegum Blush & Carnation Pink
  • Recollections shimmer card
  • Tombow Xtreme permanent adhesive
  • Misc. twine

I’m playing along with Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday #256 Challenge: Spritzed Stamps. Click on the highlighted challenge to learn more about it.

I’m done in for today. Hope to finish up the Stamp-a-Faire posts tomorrow. See you then!

Ombre Stenciled Background Friendship Card

Hello, and welcome!

There’s a lot going on today that influenced this card, so let me tell you about some of it…

First, I took a leap into unknown territory as Simon Says Stamp’s Monday Challenge encouraged us (HERE) by custom blending my own background and using a stencil with my inks, following the great Instructional video on Papertrey Ink’s Make it Monday #241 (HERE). I wanted to join Darnell’s NBUS Challenge #6 (HERE), so I pulled out some of my NBUS (Never-Before-Used-Schtuff) – a Heidi Swapp stencil and my new Papertrey Ink Tulip Time stamps and dies. And, since Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge is Touchy-Feely (HERE), I pulled out some adhesive foam tabs to pop up the flowers and butterflies for some added texture.

First, I blended my Ombre background.

Ombré: having colors or tones that shade into each other

20160302_162005aW

Then I stenciled in the hearts using more ink for a tone-on-tone look:

20160302_162607aW

And I added in the stamped and die-cut tulips and butterflies. I keep forgetting that solid dies like these are tricky to work with and get lined up well, but they came out tolerable…

20160302_164039aW

And, yes, if your eyesight is particularly good, there do appear to be some aphids and gnats flying around the tulips. I can’t find my Tombow mono sand eraser to fix it, so I’m going to leave them for a more ‘natural’ (read: imperfect) look. lol! I like how this turned out and will probably make a few more of these in the near future.

Materials used:

  • Papertrey Ink Tulip Time stamps and dies, Boutique Borders: Friends mini stamp set
  • Papertrey Ink Dye Inks: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz
  • Simon Says Stamp Hybrid Ink: Goldenlocks
  • Memento Dye Inks: Bamboo Leaves, New Sprout, Tuxedo Black
  • Heidi Swapp Confetti Stencil
  • Core’dinations cardstock – white & pink
  • Recollections Craft It gold card
  • Tombow mono adhesive
  • American Crafts This to That adhesive foam tabs

I’m playing along with the following hops and challenges, in case you’d like to join the fun:

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by!
