You Are Simply Wonderful Watercolor Cards

No, I am not wonder woman today! I happen to have worked up a 10 minute card for the Unity Stamps release party last week. I liked it so much I made a few more over the weekend, but haven’t been able to post them. Since I’m on a posting roll, I thought I’d go ahead and put them up… here’s what they look like:

This was inspired by a video from Lawn Fawn. on how to get a stained glass look with watercolor. (You can see it HERE.)

I started by embossing on Strathmore Cold Press Watercolor paper.

Then I smooshed my Distress Inks onto an acrylic block, spritzed water on the block and painted the image with a paintbrush.

Since Distress Inks react with water, I covered my butterfly with post-it notes as I only wanted to let the lower colors run and tone down their hue to make the butterfly the star of the show.

I spritzed downward and let the water run into the sink.

Once dry, I mixed my own embossing powder – a shiny golden black – like I’d seen in a quick-tip video from Unity Stamps. (You can see it HERE.) I mixed some gold Perfect Pearls with my detail embossing powder.

Stamp the sentiment in Versamark Ink, sprinkle the powder on, tap off, and apply heat.

An easy-peasy cool look!

Fill Your Heart With What’s Important – Mixed Media Tags

Today I have a pair of tags to share. Jenn Shurkus is celebrating her 10th blogiversary and has invited us to copy the inspiration from one of her projects. I chose one of her beautiful tags from March (you can see it by clicking HERE).

Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge this week is Sparkle and Shine, and their Monday Challenge is: i scream for… using the letter i.

So, I put the ideas together and came up with these lovely, sparkly and shiny mixed media tags using some Imagine crafts products, ink and a what’s Important stamp (i words)…
