Clearly Besotted Fluffy Furball Stand Up Card

Good morning sweet kits! It may be the penultimate day of the Cat Lovers Hop, but we’re not winding down! It’s full steam ahead, tho’ some of us are just running on catnip and coffee by now!

If you’re not one of them (or, perhaps, even if you are), you may look as bright eyed and bushy tailed as these cute kits:

I stamped and fussy-cut them, then stacked them up, intertwining their tales. With Glossy Accents, their eyes almost look like googly eyes!

This stand-up card starts out flat, to fit in the envelope. The top flap lifts up and folds back down.

Here’s a view looking at the back:

There is a small tab on the ‘base’ that it rests against to hold it up for display.

Supplies:

  • Clearly Besotted: Fluffy Furball stamps
  • Sizzix Card, Playful Stand-Ups dies
  • Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise cardstock
  • Recollections cream & white cardstock
  • Graphic 45: Raining Cats and Dogs
  • Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black & Desert Sand (env.) dye inks

’m playing along with the following challenges – click on any one of them for more information on how you can join the fun:

You know cats are gonna win this one hands down! >^.^<

In my next post, I’ll have today’s giveaway put together… Skedaddle on to the next person on the hop for now (after leaving some love here (and on Instagram or Pinterest if you wish). Thank you, sweeties!! : )

Art Impressions Kitten Vanity PopCard

Popping back in with a darling pop-up card for the Cat Lovers Hop.

The current Art Impressions Challenge is Add Embellishments. My embellishing starts with paper… I chose this weathered wood paper to look like the exterior of a house.

Note to self: don’t tack down the bottom of the background paper on the front of the card  until AFTER cutting the slits for pop-up mechanism… BELIEVE me, it’s better!! : )

On the ‘wall’ I hung some Graphic 45 ‘pictures’ and there are ribbon ‘curtains.’ I love the realistic antics of these stamped kittens whether they’re getting into everything or snoozing away!! A perfect fit for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Animal Antics and the Lost Coast Designs & Carmen’s Veranda Challenge #63 Cats & Dogs!

There is some twine to make the yarn ball more realistic. For the ribbed ‘wood baseboards’, I took a thin strip of kraft paper and scored along it every 1/8″, then shaved an 1/8″ piece perpendicular to the scoring.

Add a few well placed “meows”, including one for the extra kitty who’s managed to get in behind the vanity, climb up the back, and is mischievously about to bat at the roses!

Embellishing also means bling… foil for the mirror, glossy accents for the vase and eyes and loads of Sparkle Pen to add shine to the purse, fur stole, hat and roses. Oh, and don’t forget to embellish the envelope with a few stamps, too. : )

Here’s a video of the card in action *click in the middle of the picture on the white arrow)

Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs Calendar

Welcome back for the final day of the Cat Lovers Hop! I can’t believe it’s almost over!

I have another 2018 calendar for you. (I can’t believe 2017 is almost over, either!) This one features Graphic 45’s fabulous Raining Cats and Dogs collection

I know I said pigment inks are the best for these ‘boards’ however, I will say I had an extra tough time getting this shiny gold ink to dry (Teresa Collins Glitz Gold by Color Box). I also realize I didn’t get a picture of the shine, and now it’s gone on to its new home. I let it sit overnight, and thought it was dry, but I was still getting smudge marks when I touched it and had to use a heat setting tool on it. Just FYI.

I took my flower shaping tools and, after fussy cutting the flowers, umbrella cat head, and arm with the puppy (a LOT of fussy cutting, but worth it!), I put them all on some soft foam and gave them some dimension by rolling the tools across the back side of the images. Then I adhered them to the page – sometimes with foam backing to keep them popped up – for some added dimension.

I prefer mixing the colors of the microbeads for a more natural look, don’t you?

Materials used:

  • Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs paper collection: Precious Pets and Tags & Pockets (Enabler alert: G45 has just released the Deluxe Collectors Edition!)
  • Spellbinders Grand Labels One
  • Heartfelt Creations Flower Shaping Essentials tools
  • Kaiser Craft Bracket Album
  • Docrafts 2018 calendar tabs
  • Color Box Teresa Collins Glitz Gold pigment ink
  • Pebbles,  Inc. Pearlescent Chalks: Jewel Tones
  • Martha Stewart Crafts Metallic Glass Microbeads: Fire Opal, Florentine Gold, Garnet & Yellow Barite
  • Aleene’s Original Tacky Glue & Clear Gel Tacky Glue
  • Tombow Xtreme adhesive
  • Misc. ribbon

I’m entering this in the Cat Lovers Hop… click HERE for more information as to how you can join the fun.

Don’t forget that the special discount bundle at Frantic Stamper from THIS post is only good through November 1st, so, if you wanted to snag that fab deal, don’t delay!

Time is running out (that seems to be a theme in this post!) for my Blog Candy Giveaway games from THIS post, too. Another hint: There are 7 words that run through the T in the exact middle of the word search grid. Still having trouble? You’ll get one final clue later today. No worries, you will still get entries for the Bonus questions, whether or not you get the answers to #1 and #2 correct. Have fun!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and leave your kind comments!!

Graphic 45 & Spellbinders ‘Great Hexpectations’ Green Tea Gift Set

Good morning and welcome to the penultimate day of the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop!

Today I have a sweet little green tea gift set to share with you:

I love those amazing Graphic 45 papers and that cute little Great Hexpectations hexagonal gift box! It could be cut out of sturdier tag board, but cardstock holds the shape just fine. You have the option of sealing the final flaps, or leaving it so the ‘lid’ can be opened and shut.

After all the fussy-cutting, the card was easy-peasy – I only added a little distressing to the edge and a little pop of Copic coloring.

20170330_064849_wm

Supplies used:

  • Spellbinders Great Hexpectations contour die
  • Spellbinders Cinch and Go flowers die
  • Graphic 45 Cafe Parisian Collection: Bon Apetit
  • Graphic 45 Time to Flourish Collection:
    • April Flourish
    • April Cut Apart

Cat Lovers Hop Day 1 – Pink & Main Graphic 45 Cat’s Meow Hexagon Card + Sam Has Eyebrows interview + Blog Candy!

Meow! (That’s ‘Hello’ in Cat.) Welcome regular peeps and visitors!  It’s finally here…The much anticipated second annual Cat Lovers Hop! Meow! (That’s ‘Yay!’ in Cat)

2016 Cat Lovers Hop

You can read all the details about the hop  HERE. There are lots of terrific prizes to be had for participants worldwide, so come join the fun!! And, a special heads-up… at the end of this post you might even find a little blog candy!

For this year’s hop, I thought it would be fun to briefly interview some famous cats – those of Internet fame and from within our crafting circle, too. I actually had some of these famous felines reply to my interview request, so I hope you will enjoy the added kitty fun! I specifically kept them brief so as not to detain you too long… and, well, you know how cat’s attention spans are! >^.^<

Today’s interview is with Sam, the famous cat with natural ‘eyebrows’… He looks permanently purrplexed to me! : )

20161023_samhaseyebrows

You can check out his website here: http://www.samhaseyebrows.nyc/ – he even has a store you can visit. Perhaps you’re already one of Sam’s 211k Instagram followers, so I asked Sam a few questions that purrrtain to our craft interests:

  • What crafts have you tried your paws at or would like to try?
    • I tried finger painting once- it started on posters and ended all over the wood floors.
  • What is your favorite thing to do with paper?
    • Crumple it up and chase it!
  • Do people often send you cards or hand-made crafts? Can you tell us some of your favorites?
    • No, but a lot of fans post their art on Instagram for me to see! My favorite one is a painting on a tree that was done by a group of kids in China.

Thanks so much, Sam, for taking a few minutes from your busy schedule to chat briefly with us and for dressing up so handsomely for this interview! Have a furrociously fun day!

20161023_samhaseyebrows1

Now you can go take off that uncomfortable tie and take a nap!                                        p.s. Bow ties are cool – just sayin’! : )

In honor of Sam’s visit to the blog today, I included a likeness of him on my first card for the hop. Sam, you are, indeed, the cat’s meow!:

20161023_183821

Unfortunately, I found that sweet stamp at a garage sale and it has no identifying markings on it. Sorry! Pink & Main also has a challenge going on right now with the theme of fall – Gotta love those beautiful fall colors in the Graphic 45 Raining Cats & Dogs papers and the copper embossing and dots! (Thanks, G45 for sponsoring the Cat Lovers Hop!) I thought the two doilies on that die looked a bit like a rug, don’t you?

I’ve also started doing a little bit of decoration on the inside of my cards.

For those of you intrepid readers who are still with me, how ’bout some blog candy?!!

20161023_204817

I have this Doreamon sticky note set. (Doreamon is a blue robotic cat from 22nd century a Japanese manja series. Yes, I had to look it up as I have no idea where I got it from.) There are also some Simply Stamps foam cat stamps (unused) made by Plaid. They are large, so I put a ruler in the pic for you to see the size (ruler not included!). For those of you with allergy concerns, this is a pet-free/smoke free home. Pet free is not by choice, let me tell you!!

If you would like to be in the running to win this blog candy, pay close attention to the rules: Leave ONE comment on this post before 11:59 pm Pacific, Sunday Oct. 30, 2016, using the word EYEBROWS somewhere in your comment. If you don’t have the word EYEBROWS in your comment, I’ll assume you’re not interested in the blog candy (and won’t be offended!).  Also, if you are (or become) a follower of this blog, you may make a SECOND comment telling me so for an additional entry. You may also receive an ADDITIONAL entry by becoming a follower of Sam’s AND my Instagram accounts (@samhaseyebrows and @d.ann.c). If you do follow both of our Instagram accounts, come back here and leave comment with your Instagram user name. Duplicate comments will be deleted. There you have it… you may have up to three chances to win. FYI: This particular giveaway is open to International peeps, too.

On October 31, 2016, I will use Mr. Random org to draw a winner from the comments that qualify and will try to announce it here on the blog some time before noon EASTERN time. Please come back and check to see if you’re the winner. The winner will have 72 hours to contact me with their snail-mail address or another winner will be chosen.

Akkk! What’s with these lines? Where did they come from?!! How do I get rid of them?!!! They’re taunting me like a ball of string that’s been flattened out into lines. lol!

Well, it’s time for me to say Meow! (That’s ‘Goodbye‘ in Cat…. the CAT dictionary is pretty thin. lol.) Thanks so much for stopping by today! I look forward to seeing you at least once a day this week… sometimes twice (that’s the advantage of having a year to prepare!). There will be more interviews, so please come back soon!

I Love Hanging Out With You + Blog Candy

Welcome back to another day of the Winter Coffee Lovers Hop! They say today is National Hot Cocoa Day… What DON’T they have a day for? Incredible! I guess Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts didn’t hear of it because there were no free offers like on National Coffee Day. lol!

I’m bringing back Newton the cat, who really loves his cocoa.. (And, unlike his breathing feline friends, he can safely have it.)

20151213_135056W

How do you like my Flour Sack Towel with those lovely cups? More on that in a bit. Meanwhile, let’s look inside this card, since I rarely decorate the insides…

Those Graphic 45 papers make great household decor, don’t you think? I love that these two stamp sets of Newton match perfectly for front and back pairing! Did you notice the picture of young Newton on the wall? >^.^< The scenery out the window is a picture I cut out of Florida Design’s Art Galleries Magazine. “That Day in the Glade” by Henry Von Genk III. It looks like a true winter’s day in South Florida.

For today’s funnies, I thought I’d give a nod to those who are both SciFi & Cat Lovers:

1026Spock   1026LLP

Anyone remember Data’s genius ‘Ode to Spot’?

Felis Catus -is your taxonomic nomenclature

An endothermic quadruped, carniverous by nature?

Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses

Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your sub-vocal oscillations –

A singular development of cat communications

That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection

For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents –

You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.

And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion,

It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

Oh, Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display

Denote a fairly well developed cognitive array.

And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend…

I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend!

For those of you who prefer more recent SciFi kitty refs:

DrWhoWithCats did a great job of photoshopping T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats into River Song’s hand! Although I’m fonder of the older cover – probably because they’re a cool stack of cats in hats:

1026OldPossumsBook1

Ok, I’ve rambled on so much that most of you now wish you had a time machine to go back and recapture the 5 minutes of your life that you just lost with this nonsense! I’ll probably be back later today with a second card.

Live long and pawspurr!
