CDD Toucans: Coffee With You Card

Welcome back to another day of the Summer 2017 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

The colors of today’s card were inspired by the Craftin’ Desert Divas June Mood Board challenge.

I stepped out of my comfort zone by using these cool summer colors on some Toucans. I’d love to take a vacation down to South American and see some Toucans in real life again!  (SSS Monday Challenge Let’s Take a Vacation) They’re really quite gregarious.

I love that donut stuck on his beak!I tried to use THIS cool gelatos technique to get some leaves and butterflies in the background sky, but you can just barely see it…

I’ll have to work on that technique again some other time.

Materials used:

  • Craftin’ Desert Divas: Coffee Break, Feathered Friends & Flutter By stamp sets
  • Spellbinders Decorative Labels One and Labels One dies
  • Core’dinations cardstock: white and lime green cardstock

You Are In My Prayers Purple & Gold Card

Welcome back! Today I am posting a card I made for a friend who recently lost a loved one. Sympathy cards are the hardest, I think.

I noodled around with ideas from several current hops and challenges and came up with this lovely card that will fit some of them nicely and I think it is a nice sympathy card:

I had a hard time getting a good picture of it that shows it off well. Here it is in natural light:

I am SO happy that JustRite Stampers has re-opened! I have many of their lovely stamps and look forward to seeing what they come up with next! Their current challenge is Back to Nature (which you can find HERE), so I chose a floral background and a flower bunch.

Winnie and Walter is celebrating World Card Making Day with various challenges, including Use Gold/Metallic with Lydia. You can read about it HERE. I wish I had some of their lovely stamps, but don’t – yet. I did emboss the background and flowers with gold and used Metallic Gold Gelatos on the sentiment. There is also metallic glitter in the ribbon.

The Damsel of Distressed is hosting The Hop to Stop featuring the color purple to raise awareness of those who suffer from domestic violence. You can find the details HERE. After embossing with gold, I took Grape, Metallic Grape and Lavender Gelatos and spread them over the embossed background.

Then I took a baby wipe and spread the color around and it absorbed into the white cardstock. So easy and such lush colors in real life. I also used PEARLustre Tanzanite (purple) embossing powder on the sentiment and frame and various shades of violet and purple Copic markers to color the flowers.

Classy All-Occasion Cards

Today I’d like to show you a couple of cards that look classy, but were quick and easy to get together:

20150916_100523aW

This technique is SO easy: just heat emboss the stamped image – I was tickled to pull out a stamp that I hadn’t used yet. Next, spread some red, yellow and orange Gelatos over the embossed area and wipe with a baby wipe to mix the colors on the paper.

Then cut out  with a pretty Spellbinders die that embosses and de-bosses at the same time. I love using the handy Bow-it-All to make easy and pretty bows. Really Reasonable Ribbon has some great tutorial videos (HERE) showing how to use it (you could easily make your own apparatus to do this).

Ignoring the crooked ribbon on the second card, which do you like better, the black or the gold embossing? I’m still undecided, but leaning toward the gold.

Materials used:

  • Tim Holtz stamp: Flutter
  • Versamark ink
  • Recollections detail embossing powders: gold & ebony
  • Faber-Castell Gelatos: Red, oranges and yellows
  • Spellbinders Gold labels 4
  • DCWV Bella Armoire cards
  • Misc. ribbon and adhesives

These cards were inspired by several challenges that I’ll be entering:

I figure any coffee loving cardmaker will love these adorable ‘Brewchitecture’ napkins by Jill Seale. One pack is “coffee” the other is “café presse.” And, since we are cardmakers, there’s also a new, small Studio g stamp set: ” delight in little things.”

If you would like to have a chance to win this package, all you have to do is leave a comment on any of my blog hop posts that have “Blog candy” in the title from June 5 – 12, 2015. Of course, I appreciate those who sign up to follow the blog, but it’s not a requirement. If you do sign up to follow, I will give you one extra entry. To sign up, you’ll need to go to the home page and click the box that says “follow” in the right-hand column under the photos. If you’re already a follower, make a second comment telling me so (once during the week). Otherwise, one comment per post, please.  From all the comments left on my blog posts from June 5 – 12 that have “Blog candy” in the title, I will announce a winner, selected at random, on June 14, 2015. (This date is revised from my original post.) The winner will have 72 hours to respond, or I will draw another winner.

May all you WONDERFUL readers have a wonderful day!!
