Before and After Caffeine Ellen Hutson & Art Impressions Mix It Up Challenge

Sneaking this one in under the wire. This month’s Ellen Hutson Mix it Up Challenge is to use something from her line and from Art Impressions. I came up with a fun little interactive card:

And now the stills:

All I Want Is… A Coffee Bigger Than My Head Card

Hello! I’m back today with a really fun NORTHERN Winter Coffee card:

20161201_165746

The sentiment originally said ‘chocolate bar’ – which is terrific, but didn’t fit the Coffee Lovers Hop. I cut it apart so that I could put the in the die cut ‘Coffee’ lined with brown instead. Sometimes you can mask a sentiment to do this, but the words in this one were too close. Cutting stamps apart is fairly easy with an X-acto knife and they can go right back together to use as originally intended. It’s an easy way to get more mileage out of your stamps. So far I haven’t been struck by lightening for the sacrilege of ‘maiming’ my stamps. lol!

20161201_165959

I thought the flower sequin was just the right size to stick in her hair. That helps draw your eye away from the other side of her face where I added some hair to cover for the fact that I got her face stamped in slightly off from her chin angle…. now she just looks like she might have a bad toothache… of course I shouldda kept MY mouth shut and you probl’y wouldn’t’ve noticed! lol!

Supplies used:

  • Spellbinders Elegant Labels 4 die
  • Verve Coffee die
  • Unity Stamp Co: Hello Love, Angie Girl Faces & Big Chocolate Bar stamps
  • Memento: London Fog, Rich Cocoa, Tuxedo Black
  • Copics: BG13, 018, 45; C1; E11, 23; R20; RV02, 19, 34; YR21, 24
  • Pebbles, Inc. Pearlescent Chalks Jewel Tones
  • Core’dinations cardstock – white and teal
  • Scrapbook adhesives by 3l EZ Runner permanent adhesive
  • Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue

20161201_225934

I’m sure you’ve lost a pen, glasses, etc, only to find them stuck up in your hair, haven’t you?! If not, wait a few years!!! lol! Well, this gal is definitely a bit discombobulated!…

20161201_230008

Bwah-hahaha! Next time you lose your coffee, be sure to look on top of your head! What a pricelessly entertaining stamp, Prima!!

She’a a super loose translation of the current Prima CAT layers sketch:

20161211_primacat

Having just been to the McKee Botanical Garden in Vero Beach, Florida, and seen the water lilies in bloom right now, I felt I could beg the Coffee Lovers indulgence and post this as another Floridian WINTER card. : ) The rest will be traditional winter cards, I promise!

Cat Lovers Hop – Final Day – You’re Special Crazy Cat Card + Blog Candy

I’m so glad you could stop by today for the final day of the Cat Lovers Hop!

2016 Cat Lovers Hop

And what a hop it’s been! With over 130 talented entries already, who knows how many we’ll have before the day is done?!! I’ve had cat loving visitors from 15 countries stop by!

Who knew that National Chocolate day is October 28 and National Cat day is October 29?! (International Cat day is August 8). Isn’t it crazy how they seem to have a “day” for everything?!! I think EVERY day should be chocolate and cat days!!!

If you’ve been following my posts this week, then you know that I’ve been interviewing famous cats. I sent out many more requests, but not all of our beloved felines deigned to reply. The one I really missed was Tarder Sauce aka “Grumpy Cat” as I had a cat colored like her and some blog candy, too. What was I thinking?!! We all know her most popular MEMEs:

20161029_141739

But I’d rather not impute motives… who knows what she’s been going through at the time I wrote?  Maybe she’s even had way too many PAWparazzi chasing her lately. So I went ahead and used the image I colored in her honor and put together a fun card in fall colors:

20161029_135732

And the inside shows what the little PAWparazzo was up to…

20161029_135430

Didja notice my inspired ball of yarn exclamation point?! I’ll fess up as to why it’s inspired… I had masked off the rest of the sentiment while inking it up… then forgot to take off the mask. DUH! It left a smudge that needed covering. THAT’s when the ball of yarn exclamation point idea came up. Too bad the smaller ball wouldn’t cover up the smudge as it’d’ve made the perfect exclamation point! (Note to self… remember for next time!)

20161029_135358

There’s a better view of that fantastic metallic creative medium on the left and the Perlen ‘milk’.  I used a rounded flower tool to round the eyes before adding glossy accents. They look really cool IRL.

Supplies used:

  • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stamp sets:  Crazy Cats, Mini Cats & Dogs, and Crazy Talk
  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Framelits dies: Crazy Cats and Mini Cats & Dogs
  • Ranger Dylusions Raining Cats small stencil
  • Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink
  • Imagine Crafts Creative Medium Metallic Copper
  • Copic Markers
    • Large Cat: B21; E00, 11, 31, 33, 74, 79; RV02; W1,3,5
    • Small Cat: YR02, 04, 21, 24; W1
  • Sakura Pigma Micron 005 black pen
  • Sharpie white paint pen
  • Viva Decor Perlen-pen
  • Ranger Inkssentials Glossy Accents
  • Silly Winks sticky back foam
  • The Paper Studio – Spare Parts camera charm
  • Core’dinations cardstock: black and white
  • Misc. card base
  • Various adhesives
  • Dollar store medical tape (I use this to hold my dies in place, but I liked the look of it over the milk bottle, so cut it to fit before putting Glossy Accents over it)

I’m entering this card in the following hops and challenges – you can click on any one of them for more information in case you’d care to join the fun:

Stamp-a-Faire 2016 – Color Blocking – ‘Stay Crazy’ Andy Warhol Style Card

Well, it’s the final wrap-up for Papertrey Ink’s Stamp-a-Faire 2016.

20160723_SAF

After this you’ll have a bit of a break from me. Now that I’m starting to feel better, I’ve got to catch up on everything I’ve let go this past week. At least I had some fun crafting to distract me!

The final session was on Color Blocking – Andy Warhol Style.

20160725_215812

I had to step WAY out of my comfort zone for this, but I did give it a go. By the way, a helpful tip: When you’re using masking tape to block off already colored sections, don’t just move it over the next section as some of the ink will stick to it and be transferred to the next block. Ask me how I know! Lol!

Unfortunately I didn’t have the shades of red and green that I wanted, but it still turned out Warhol-esque. I cut up the sentiments and merged them together to get this saying which seemed so apropos to both this crazy style and the implied crazy-like-a-fox. I placed everything off-kilter to match this chaotic style.

20160725_215829

Supplies:

  • Papertrey Ink Love You To Pieces: Fox stamp set
  • Papertrey Ink dye inks: Hibiscus Burst & Orange Zest
  • Memento dye inks: Bahama Blue, Bamboo Leaves, Dandelion, Nautical Blue

I’m playing along with the following challenges – click on any one if you’d like more details as to how to play along:

Well, that was the last session from Stamp-a-Faire 2016. I enjoyed learning about some of the Masters of Art and using their works as springboards for new cards. I learned some new techniques and now have a nice set of cards ready to use! I’m already looking forward to next year’s Stamp-a-Faire! Hope to see you there!!
