Good afternoon! The whim has finally taken me away from cards to post this nifty little kitty coaster I made back in February. (Yes, there are several things nearly a year old that have yet to be posted. At the speed at which I move, if I were on a turtle’s back I’d probably be shouting ‘Wheee!!’ lol!) My idea was to make a whole set, but life ended up getting in the way and now the rest are on the back burner. So, for now, I’ll share the only one I made… purrfect for that cuppa…
I first saw the post about these on Kunin Group felt products Facebook page HERE and followed the link back to Laura’s Made Peachy blog… you can read her guest post by Katie Norris of Baker Ross and get the template download to make these for free HERE. There are several different decorating ideas and patterns on the two links. I will say that the eyes and nose pieces are so tiny.. even the ears and paws might be a lot easier glued on rather than stitched.
What is it about cat’s paws that just make you want to play with them?!! Speaking of which… try typing “cat’s paw bear” into your Google search bar and check out the images. Some are photoshopped, but they’re pretty stinkin’ cute!
This was my first try at stitching like that… I think it turned out ok. You could probably stuff these and make little toys out of them, too.
Materials used
- Kunin Group felts
- DMC embroidery thread
I’m entering this project in the Cat Lovers Hop. Click on it for more information as to how you can join the fun… there are many prizes up for grabs! : )
I have a special interview planned for tomorrow and there will be blog candy, so be sure to check back in. Thank you all so much for your kind comments!!

pps…. One last bit of fun for the day… those of you who have been subscribers for a while know my fascination with pareidolia – the human ability to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness. Here are a couple of heavenly examples that fit out Cat Lovers Hop….

Well, there you have it. You now know the depth of my cat loving geekiness! Now, if you want to know some REALLY interesting trivia… Did you know that the center of the Milky Way tastes like raspberries and smells like rum? True story! You can read about it HERE.
Can’t wait to get out there and see if it’s true! : )
G’nite all!!
EEEK! that coaster is precious! I wouldn’t want him squashed by a cuppa. Cool pix. I was worried I was supposed to see a whole cat. Phew! xxD dlmundinger(at)yahoo(dot)com USA

You are awesome, D.Ann! This is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I was crafty enough to make something like this but all I know how to do is papercrafting and I seem to be all-thumbs with other crafts. I’ll have to check out your links! Glad you’re having fun at the hop!

That coaster is so precious! The mug you chose to show it off with is purr-fect for the occasion! Raspberries and rum huh? Well, there’s a reason for some space travel! Cool photos of outer space too.

I want that coaster and that cup!! Truth is, I have a bunch of cat cups that are currently in my cupboard – I rarely use them because I don’t want to break and/or stain them and trust me, I’m clumsy enough to break each & every one – probably by tripping over a cat! I wish I had the sewing gene, but, alas, I don’t. I even have 2 sewing machines that I haven’t a clue how to use – don’t even know how to thread the bobbin! I know this is handmade and if pressed, I probably could do it, but I’d rather you do it for me (giggle) – Christi ~ StampinDiva at yahoo dot com ~ USA

Gawwww!!! That cat coaster is ridiculously cute! Love how he;s got such a rounded silhouette in one direction and all flat in the other! I’m going to have to make one of these myself, but not to use for my coffee cup because it’s too cute to cover up! His little toe pads are the best part!
