Smile – A Pair of Glittery Roller Coaster Cards

Good Monday morning! I hope you all had a lovely weekend!!

Because it IS Monday, I figure we all need some cheering up, so I made a couple of cards to bring a smile to your faces:

This card came about by a serendipitous accident – my Simon Says Stamp Smile Circle die fell on the Roller Coaster die and I noticed how it fit the loop-de-loop perfectly!

So I cut it out on some shiny blue-black cardstock and snipped the circle at the bottom to line up with the loop:

Then I pulled out some of my NBUS (Never-Before-Used-Schtuff) Simply Defined 2.5″ wide double-sided ‘Stacey’ tape and laid it across my card to hold the dies down and then make my own background. At this point, you may want to wipe the top and bottom of the card with a dryer sheet to help keep the glitter off of it.

Note: Save the release paper to use to press the dies down and later to burnish the glitter!

I added my cars to both cards. On one I snipped off the junctions and used them for heads of people in the cars for the other…

I then added various colors of glitter to both cards, burnishing with the release paper from the double-sided tape.

I always giggle when I play with glitter, remembering that viral e-mail about the lady who quickly freshened up with a washcloth before going to the gynecologist and didn’t understand why he commented on her wanting this to be an extra special visit until she got home and her daughter asked where the rag she had been storing her glitter was… lol!

Tip: glitter cleans up nicely with a Swiffer sweeper cloth. I cut mine in four pieces and keep them with my glitter.

That glitter just makes me want to reach out and touch the sky and see how it feels. You’d expect it to be rough, but it’s smooth. I tried to center the dies on the tape better in the second card. I was afraid to add an extra 1/4″ double sided tape, thinking there might be a line between the two. I like the way these two die cuts combine, don’t you?!
