Thinking of You Fish Bowl – Cat Lovers Hop Finale + Blog Candy

Here we go… the grand finale of the Cat Lovers Hop! It has been a fun week of all things feline!

2015HerPeacefulGarden

Jamis, at Her Peaceful Garden, organized this fun hop and she and her four-legged friends deserve a huge round of applause, as do all of the fab sponsors!! Raise your paw if you agree!

(By the way, this paw belongs to Charlie, my friend’s Main Coon cat. If you want to see the rest of him, you can check out the post HERE)

I have a fun Thinking of You card for today:

20151025-203322aW

Here it is open. I really love that adorable kitty by Stampendous! And I think it’s funny that he’s looking at the fish and ‘thinking of you.’ lol! I debated stamping Thinking of You again on the inside to match up, but decided that would leave me with little room to write a message, so left it as is.

20151025_203545aW

This was my first attempt at coloring on acetate with Copic markers. It was a learning experience! Since the ink sits on top of the acetate, they do not blend. You can, however, get some neat texture with a little practice.

20151017_095656aW

Unfortunately my first attempt was too dark and you couldn’t see the cat very well through the fish bowl. Back to the drawing board!

The other thing you have to remember when using Copics on acetate is that the colors come out MUCH lighter than the do on paper. It took me several tries to get them dark enough to be seen.

This time I put Glossy Accets over it for water and it turned out MUCH better. Of course had I wanted NO bubbles, there would have been oodles of ’em. There were still a few and they look terrific.

20151016_183840aW

I put glossy accents on the cat’s eyes, too for a little more realism. You can’t hardly tell in the pictures, but once I added the Distress Inks, I sprinkled some water over the card, so there are water spots as if someone’s naughty little paw has been splashing around in the water!

***********    giveaway now closed    ***************

Well, hello there! Are you still sticking around?! I reckon you – like your four legged furry friends – think you deserve a treat, eh?! I DO have another small blog candy package up for grabs:

20151025_220928a

A ‘Meow!’ Cat magnet, a foot of paw print ribbon (yes, I DO see the irony in that!) and a couple of kitty embellishments for your next cat card.

If you’d like to have a chance at winning this little package, pay close attention: Leave ONE comment on this post telling me: What’s the most cats you’ve had at one time? (I think Janis will win in quantity, but the drawing will be random!). You must leave your comment before 11:59 p.m. PACIFIC time, Sunday, November 1, 2015. If you don’t tell me the highest number of cats you’ve ever had, I’ll assume you’re not interested in the blog candy. If you are (or become) a follower of this blog, you can make a SECOND comment telling me so for an additional entry. On November 2, 2015 I will use Mr. Random org to draw a winner from the comments that qualify and TRY to announce it here on the blog. I will be in an area with spotty internet, so if there is no announcement on November 2nd, I will announce the winner on November 10, 2015. The winner will have 72 hours to contact me with their snail-mail address or another winner will be chosen.

Well, it’s been a fun week I hope you enjoyed your visits here and hope to see you again! I’ll sign off now as Tigger would:

TTFN (which, for those who have forgotten, stands for Ta-Ta For Now!)

-D.Ann

akkk… now I’ve got the Tigger song running through my head… ‘their heads are made out of rubber, their tales are made out of springs’….  I guess we DID have a ‘bouncy, bouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun’ week hopping around, didn’t we?!! >^.^<

  1. Hi D Ann, first I love this card. So cool how the cat peers out from behind the bowl and I love it when it is open as well. very cool. Most cats I have ever lived with is two. Lightweight I know LOL. Oh my, I had totally forgotten about Tigger!!!! I haven’t had time to get out the big cats yet!!! Our clocks have already changed here in Europe. Useful to know yours are moving this weekend cos it sometimes messes up linky closing times. Hugz

  2. That is a super stunning card – absolute genius !!!
I must say you have now given me the urge to try the rice crispies trick hahahaha 😀

The most cats ever is right at this moment with 15 but I have 3 others that have started to lurk on my windowsills at the front of the house !!!! It’s like the saying “If you feed them – they will come” !!!!
They’ve all got names but I don’t guess you want me to list them ? LoL
I keep scooping these poor strays up and getting them ‘fixed’ – some run away afterwards but most stay with me !!!
There is no real love for cats here on my island – they tolerate them because they keep down rats and stuff, but they have no concept of neutering (nor with their dogs – which is an awful shame) !!
I am destined to become the Crazy Cat Lady bwaahahahaha 😀

  3. Oh NOoooo – my first big long comment seems to have disappeared !!! Here goes again then……

Your kitty card is absolute genius !!! Such a brilliant creation.
The rice crispies funny has soooo given me the urge to try that now. LoL

I have at present 15 cats with 3 more who have started lurking on my front windowsills, who seem intent on making my house their home. !!!
I have names for all 15 but I guess you don’t want them all listed ? 😀
I keep scooping up these poor strays that arrived and getting them ‘fixed’ but still they come. It’s like the saying .. “If you feed them – they will come ” hahahaha…. oh No – wait…. wasn’t that from a film ??? Hee hee

It’s such a shame here that kitties are only just barely ‘tolerated’ because they keep the rat population down but they really don’t have the right concept about neutering and how to treat animals in general on my Island. It seems that I am destined to become the Crazy Cat Lady hahahaha 😀

  4. I don’t understand – I have left 2 big long comments now and both times they have failed to post !!! Am I only allowed one comment ???? I’ll try one more time…..

A shorter abridged version is that I have 15 cats – which I shall not print all the names here – with 3 more who have taken up coming to my windowsill and seem intent on making this their home.
I scoop up the strays and get them ‘fixed’. Sometimes they forgive me and stay, and sometimes they leg it off 😀 Here on my little Island, the locals barely tolerate cats and only because they keep down the vermin.  They have a totally irresponsible attitude toward neutering and it is such a shame to see all these poor homeless furries just looking for some LUV.
I am destined to be the Crazy Cat Lady hahaha 😀

  5. This card is totally CATARIFFIC! I love how you have the cat on the back and the goldfish bowl on the front. I have never colored on acetate and now I will have to try it!! I hope your card goes with the prize pkg. I have only had one cat at a time. Unfortunately, our last cat got our and ran away while we were on vacation and someone was house sitting. Instead of setting my scale back 10 pounds, I am setting my age back 20 years!! Have a great day!!

  6. Hello, D.Ann! This is a very cool card! I love it! I have not tried colouring on acetate – hard enough to stamp on it without it slip-sliding all over the place – awesome job! And I love how it opens up! Would love to try something like this! You have some gorgeous kitty stamps that I don’t have!

You’ve got another cat-themed giveaway – Yay! Please count me in! The most cats I’ve had is right now…. 3. I had one kitty for 18 years (Muffin) before he passed on, then got my two boys (Honeydew and Kiwi), whom I’ve had for 11 years. Snowie came to join the group last summer when hubby and I moved into this house. She is Brian’s cat, is about 10 years old, and even though she weighs a slight 7 lb she definitely rules the roost over my 20-lb Honeydew and 11-lb Kiwi! There was a lot of hissing when she joined the boys but that’s rare now, although I don’t know if she and Kiwi will ever be friends. Thanks for the chance – and thanks for sharing all of the kitty inspiration this week!

  7. What a fabulous card!! When I first saw it, I thought it was a standard fold design with the cat and fish bowl all part of the same stamp. How clever of you to add that acetate fishbowl image as an overlay and then to even cut out the cat ear shape so that sweet kitty shows through to the front. I’ve stamped and colored on acetate and it’s been really hit or miss so I do understand how you had to do some experimentation. The results are absolutely worth it though, because this card is one that I would have a tough time giving away! Your cat is colored so beautifully and I love the textured look that you got while drawing the sand in the fishbowl bottom. I need to learn how to use alcohol markers because I always love the way it looks when someone actually knows what they’re doing!
As for the most number of cats I’ve ever had at a time, that would be 5. Actually, I think we tipped the boat when we went over 3 cats because all of the cats started peeing in the house after that and we had to stop letting them roam freely from room to room. They were all vying for the position of Top Cat and in the process ended up getting bumped down 5 notches!
What a lot of fun this hop has been as I’ve gotten to enjoy cat projects, cat cartoons and memes, and admire everyone’s kitties!

  8. Whew! I finally figured out how to follow your blog and am following by email now. I browsed through some of your non-cat related projects on the blog the other day and look forward to seeing even more! Had a chuckle at Ike’s multiple posts because that’s happened to me so many times. My comment doesn’t show up so I keep posting and posting and posting…oh my!

  9. Genius card with the acetate fishbowl and the kitty!!! Love the design and so cute.

It’s hard to say how many cats is the most we’ve ever had because until we got the ferals under control at the old house, we had two feral barn mommies faithfully pumping out one and sometimes two litters per year. Yowwww!!! At one time, we had around 35 named cats, but not all of them were tamed. Tame or not, none of them seemed to mind helping themselves to the cat food on the back porch! lol….

Thanks for offering the sweet blog candy! You don’t know how tempting it is to me to help myself to the grab bag of Unity stamps they sent me to give out as a prize…..and it is a great grab bag!! The down side to hostessing is that I am not eligible for the prize drawings. Maybe I will win a blog prize. 🙂

Thanks so much for linking up in the Cat Lovers Hop!!! I LOVE your cat funnies and the daylight savings time meme. I sure need that one with all the Halloween candy I am forced to eat because of no trick or treaters!!! Ha.
